We have been traveling around the wonderful playground that is the province of Quebec, in addition to traveling all over the world, for many years. We love the smell of the sea as much as that of the taiga. We could say that nature inspires us and leave it there. But in reality, it is when we find ourselves with couples in love, both feet in the water, hair blowing in the wind or chasing the setting sun that our work takes on its full meaning. We are lovers of the great outdoors, epicurean contemplatives and passionate travelers.
And above all, we have the courage to be different, just like you. You can trust us. We can say that with confidence because more than a hundred couples have done it. Not only did they trust us to photograph (and help plan!) their wedding or elopement, they trusted us with their stories. They invited us to experience one of the most beautiful days of their lives with them and gave us the privilege of helping them remember it forever through our photos.

About us
At that point in your adventure, after all the discussions we have had while helping you plan your intimate wedding, we will no longer be strangers. Not yet your best friends, but close ;) Jokes aside, you will have the impression of having people with whom you click naturally. We'll be there to capture candid moments while taking a step back and giving you some time just the two of you where you'll feel like you're the only people in the world. Honestly, there are even times when you'll probably forget we're there.

On a foggy afternoon, we meet at the dock to board the boat which takes us to a small island in the middle of the St. Lawrence River.
A flock of puffins comes to say hello! Quick selfies to immortalize this moment!
After landing on the island, Laurence & Vincent set up camp. The view is beautiful, there is only the sea in front of them. We feel that the mist is slowly giving way to the sun. Laurence puts on her makeup and does her hair while sitting on a picnic table.
They then dress, hidden between the monoliths. Vincent takes care of cooling the bubbles by wedging the bottle between two rocks in the water.
Laurence & Vincent see each other for the first time… A memorable first look on the coast!
We can clearly see that the sun is trying to break through. We walk slowly towards their ceremony location while enjoying the landscape.
The sun is slowly sinking towards the horizon. Golden light is at its best. When the time comes, Laurence & Vincent exchange the intimate vows they wrote for each other. It is a moment of great emotion. They then exchange rings - that's it, it's the moment they've been waiting for! Laurence & Vincent are finally married!
A champagne toast. A first dance with both feet in the water. They have this secluded island to themselves...
Back at the camp, Laurence & Vincent light the fire to cook some grilled meats. They take the opportunity to read the kind words that their loved ones have hidden in a bottle.
Under the last rays of the sun, leaving them snuggled together and not wanting the moment to end, we wish them good night.
In the early morning, the breath of whales in the mist wakes us. After coffee and breakfast, we pack up. Laurence & Vincent follow the path across the moor and head towards the quay to leave their backpacks there while waiting for the boatman.
It's low tide, the mist is returning. They take the opportunity to explore the surroundings, there is so much to discover here.
It's time to return to the mainland, we board the boat again, but not before tasting the sea urchins that the captain will have caught.
A final farewell to the island. Laurence & Vincent breathe deeply the smell of the sea spray. That's it, today is the first day of the rest of their lives.

For logistical reasons, some couples prefer to settle the legal side of their union in the country or province where they reside. Nothing prevents them from organizing a symbolic ceremony on their wedding day. We know very well that marriage is not just a signature on a piece of paper. Creating a completely personalized symbolic ceremony (whether led by Josée or one of your loved ones) allows you to highlight the full emotional significance of the moment.
Symbolic ceremony
Would you prefer to have a friend or family member celebrate your union? It will definitely be a very moving moment! On the other hand, the person you have chosen has never celebrated a wedding and is a little nervous, or doesn't really know what to say and doesn't want to make a mistake. Josée offers the option of sending a ceremony template (including examples of texts and rituals) and having a consultation call to answer questions and give advice.
Support for your celebrant
You can choose the celebrant of your choice, this could be an accredited celebrant or, in some cases, a loved one who can act as celebrant for the day.
Another solution is to ask Josée to celebrate your wedding, since in addition to being a photographer at Love is Nord, she is also an accredited celebrant by the Directeur de l'état civil du Quebec. Imagine, since she will already be there, how that facilitates the logistics of the day!
If you would like to add this option to your package, she will create a personalized wedding ceremony for you both. You can include music, readings, rituals, or whatever comes to mind. Josée will support you while taking care of all the legal formalities.

We live in France and were looking for something to match our vibe. So we searched the Internet to find out how we could get married during our trip to Canada.
We found Love is Nord and I must say we were not disappointed. Josée and Patrick were very attentive to our needs and were constantly striving to make our day unforgettable. They were a constant support. We spoke several times long-distance before the trip and they perfectly understood our choices and wishes.

I didn't want to feel uncomfortable at our own wedding due to its small size or how private and personal it was, nor did I want to feel intimidated by being photographed.
Josée helped us a lot with the planning and made sure there was no stress, which was also very important because we are both overwhelmed with our careers and find that planning events is a daunting task. It was like we had a wedding planner just for us! They listened to all of our requests and made sure they were included. It was also great that Josée could be the wedding celebrant. Patrick & her made sure we had the best photos possible, even though we were unlucky with the weather; their knowledge of the area proved invaluable when it came to finding ways around it.
I love the photos we received! Some scenes are purely magical. They capture very candidly what we are and symbolically what we mean to each other. Coming from the verb to elope meaning to run away. This definition has evolved over time and has become the perfect synonym for an intimate way of getting married, focused solely on your relationship and what you experience together and not on the myriad of commercial distractions that the wedding industry offers.
This doesn't mean you should run off and get married without telling anyone! While a traditional wedding can have hundreds of guests, an elopement is a more intimate experience and usually includes only the couple and sometimes a few guests (less than 20 people in total).
This means that it is much easier to get married in beautiful natural settings that would not otherwise be accessible. Most couples who choose to elope are not doing it to save money, but because they want their wedding day to be a reflection of who they are, not a big show made to fit in.

Yes, absolutely! This is one of our favorite part of our job. In fact, most of the couples we work with have no idea where they want to get married or just have a rough idea of the area when they contact us.
When we meet, we talk with you for a long time to understand your vision for your day, your musts and your limitations (physical, budgetary or other) that we will have to deal with. Only after we understand what you want to experience on your wedding day, do we make suggestions for personalized locations. This is why almost all of our elopements take place in locations that our couples didn't even know existed until they contacted us!
We are experienced travelers, lost corner hunters, dead end adventurers! We are especially passionate about helping you find hidden treasures and off-the-beaten-path locations to exchange your vows. We'll be happy to give you lots of suggestions based on your tastes. We have been traveling through the beautiful playground that is the province of Quebec for many years and have photographed many intimate weddings and elopements. We get it. You don't want to have a camera under your nose all day.
Your wedding day is not a photoshoot! We have a very natural approach. We use a variety of lenses so you can enjoy the beauty of the scenery and absorb the majesty around you without feeling tracked. And we gently guide you as you interact naturally with each other and the environment. And because we will have gotten to know each other during the planning process of your elopement, it will feel much more like a gathering of friends than a meeting of strangers.
This may surprise you, but most of the locations you see pictured on our website are easily accessible.
When we make suggestions for your elopement location, we take into account several factors, including accessibility. If you don't feel like hiking on your wedding day, we can suggest several epic locations that are easily accessible.
If you decide to have an outdoor wedding adventure, it implies that you're ready to embrace rain, snow and all! We're used to photographing in all seasons and all kinds of weather conditions.
